Neil Munro of the Daily Caller has
counted 130 appearances by the president, vice president, their spouses, White
House officials, and Cabinet secretaries at colleges and universities since
spring 2011.
Obama's decision to campaign -- er,
conduct official business -- on university campuses last week was not
surprising. According to exit polls, there was no surge of young voters in 2008.
They made up 18 percent of voters, compared to 17 percent in
2004.
Young people are notoriously
transient, and it's hard for political organizers to track them down. Harder
perhaps this year, with many recent college graduates unable to find jobs and a
rising percentage of young people moving in with their
parents.
The Hrvard survey showed 58 percent
of Millennials saying the economy was a top issue and only 41 percent approving
Obama's handling of it. Like Romney, they seem to be saying, "It's the economy,
and we're not stupid."
READER COMMENT: When I tried to
explain to my then 18 and 19 year old daughters as to why I wasn’t gonna vote
for Obama, they refused to listen, “Yer a racist, and refusing to vote for the
FIRST BLACK PRESIDENT just proves.”
When they called me to see if I was
watching the Inaugural of Obama, and I wasn’t (I was crying in shame for my
country)I was accused again.
Now, they are both unemployed. The
first had a stellar college career, working her way thru, and holding internship
after internship, consciously every day doing something towards her career.
She’s coming over this evening. It
will take every ounce of self-control to not say, “Told you so.” Instead, I will
ask her what party will she vote for, I’ll ask why. I sincerely doubt that she
will vote Obama again.
READER COMMENT: … before embracing
what one writes about himself…check out his past accomplishments he was
responsible for making happen, if any… If they fit what he promises to do for
the nation, then give him some thought…
BUT…if he has never accomplished
anything of substance…
If he doesn’t have the type of
experience needed to bring about promises…
And if you close your eyes and
consider “the skills needed” to help us out of our mess…and find
none.
Then…look further for someone
else!
I was then advised that MY VOTE IS A
GIFT…and should not be wasted on incompetents!
By leaving emotions aside, I can
usually ask these questions about a candidate, and make an intelligent and
responsible decision and choice…
Sometimes I would ask my young adult
child: “WOULD YOU VOTE FOR YOURSELF FOR
PRESIDENT?”
A surprise question yes…and
generally successful in bringing about more intelligent than emotional
discussions of politics…
…the young adult usually answers
they are not qualified…I then ask why?
They then generally tell me what
skills they believe are needed to be a President…and that they don’t yet have
those skills.
I compliment them on their
reasoning…and then advise them to FOLLOW
THAT SAME LEVEL OF INTELLIGENT REASONING WHEN DECIDING WHO OUR NEXT PRESIDENT
SHOULD BE…NO EMOTIONS, JUST SKILLS.
Our trusting American youth have
placed their clenched fists into the socialist furnace of firery anger and
emotion, only to see it withdrawn withered and economically burnt to a
crisp.
