Sandra Stotsky is credited with developing one of the country’s strongest sets of academic standards for K-12 students as well as the strongest academic standards and licensure tests for prospective teachers while serving as Senior Associate Commissioner in the Massachusetts Department of Education from 1999-2003. She is also known nation-wide for her in-depth analyses of the problems in Common Core’s English language arts standards.

Her current research ranges from the deficiencies in teacher preparation programs and teacher licensure tests to the deficiencies in the K-12 reading curriculum and the question of gender bias in the curriculum. She is regularly invited to testify or submit testimony to state boards of education and state legislators on bills addressing licensure tests, licensure standards, and Common Core’s standards (e.g., Utah, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, South Carolina, and Texas).

She currently serves on several committees for the International Dyslexia Association and on the advisory board for Pioneer Institute’s Center for School Reform. She served on the National Validation Committee for the Common Core State Systemic Initiative (2009-2010), on the National Mathematics Advisory Panel (2006-2008), co-authoring its final report as well as two of its task group reports, on the Massachusetts Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (2006-2010), and on the Steering Committee in 2003-2004 for the framework for the National Assessment of Educational Progress reading assessments for 2009 onward.

Her major publications include The Death and Resurrection of a Coherent Literature Curriculum (Rowman & Littlefield, 2012); Literary Study in Grades 9, 10, and 11: A National Survey (Association of Literary Scholars, Critics, and Writers, 2010); What’s at Stake in the K-12 Standards Wars: A Primer for Educational Policy Makers (Peter Lang, 2000); and Losing Our Language (Free Press, 1999, reprinted by Encounter Books, 2002).

This is just the latest in a string of outrages from "Common Core-compliant" schools. The nationwide push for a  uniform curriculum is fast becoming the education system's Obamacare.

Although the federal government is prohibited by law from creating a national curriculum, the Obama Administration has gotten around the law by pawning the job off on the National Governors Association. The NGA in turn pawned off the job on a private firm, which dumped it on the desk of a fellow named David Coleman, who has never been a classroom teacher.

To make things even scarier, Coleman is now the president of the College Board and has promised to rewrite the SAT that most students take to get into college so that it conforms to Common Core. The story in the rumor mill says that the plan is then to have Coleman start writing standards for the nation's colleges.

GOVERNMENT SHUT DOWN WAS PLANNED

Anonymous comments that are probably true.

I have worked in the government on and off for 40 years.  During that time I became quite familiar with requisitions, bidding, awarding contracts etc.  It is a time- consuming process with bean-counters and pencil-necked bureaucrats every step of the way.  The simplest request takes months, not days or hours.

In less than 8 hours of the shutdown, miraculously, professionally printed 3x4 foot signs appeared all over the country in the tens of thousands saying,“This [park, facility, etc. with custom logos] closed due to government shutdown." 

There has not been a government shutdown in 17 years.  These signs were designed, specifications were determined, signs were then requisitioned, bids were posted and vetted, government contracts were awarded.  The materials were then ordered and the signs manufactured then distributed U.S. Mails or freight companies.

This shutdown was orchestrated and planned well in advance - at least 6-8 month ago.  Millions of tax dollars were spent in this process.  Does a paper trail a mile long lead directly to the White House?

The Democrats are chanting that Republicans must fully fund Obamacare because it is the law of the land, passed by Congress, signed by the President, and upheld by the Supreme Court. Therefore, they say, it must be obeyed and can’t be altered by Republicans who want to defund it.

That argument is both wrong and hypocritical. Any federal law can be changed, repealed, amended or defunded by our legislative branch of government, Congress.

The Republican House wants to deal with the controversial huge “continuing resolution” bill in separate pieces, giving the OK to worthwhile federal spending purposes while leaving others (like Obamacare) without funds. Obama refuses to negotiate and demands a “clean” (blank-check) bill; his position is all-or-nothing-at-all.

Actually, the Supreme Court decision did not give a “clean” upholding of Obamacare. The Court effectively rewrote the law by allowing states to opt out of Medicaid expansion, and other pieces of Obamacare are still being litigated in federal courts, such as the mandate that employer-required insurance must include objectionable abortifacient drugs.

The House Oversight Committee has uncovered a series of emails between the White House and IRS Obamacare officials that show the White House was given confidential taxpayer information on groups suing the government.

Section 6103 of the Internal Revenue Code prohibits federal employees from “disclosing any return or return information obtained by him in any manner in connection with his service as such an officer or an employee.” Federal employees who illegally disclose confidential taxpayer information can face up to five years in prison for their actions.

The emails show that Sarah Hall Ingram, a top IRS Obamacare official, was in contact with White House officials and Lois Lerner discussing the IRS scandals.

Oversight committee chairman Darrell Issa (R-CA) “has requested unredacted copies of the emails, citing a prohibition from misusing Section 6103 ‘for the purpose of concealing information from a congressional inquiry.’ Ingram headed the scandal-ridden IRS office responsible for overseeing tax-exempt nonprofit groups before leaving to head the agency’s office in charge of Obamacare implementation.”

As Digital Trends points out in its devastating critique of HealthCare.gov, the exchanges cost more than Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Spotify in their first half decades or so of existence.  Those sites all work for their customers; HealthCare.gov does not.  In fact, HealthCare.gov and its affiliated federally facilitated exchanges (FFEs) managed to sign up a whopping 51,000 Americans according to internal HHS sources.  

That would put HealthCare.gov and the FFEs on pace to top 2 million enrollees the first year, far lower than the 7 million projected and needed for Obamacare to remain viable.

Simply put, the exchanges represent a vast money pit, with HHS projecting $2 billion in costs to build out and operate the FFEs in 2014 alone. The GAO’s own report outlines $303 billion spent so far among just 10 contractors, including $88 million to GGI Federal to build the HealthCare.gov website and its related sites.  When contacted by the Daily Caller for comment on a story about the failures of HealthCare.gov, CGI Federal’s response was typical: “No comment.”

No comment on the $88 million that went down the drain, no comment on the abysmal failure of the website designed with that $88 million, no comment at all. When Digital Trends contacted Health and Human Services for comment, they got no reply at all, not even a “No comment.”

"Sebelius and Steelers Chairman Dan Rooney were at an enrollment and education event on Thursday at Heinz Field to promote HealthCare.gov, but people who showed up encountered problems in signing up for coverage on the website. ... Sebelius, who is making similar trips to cities across the country to spread the word about the website, told the audience of about 100 people that HealthCare.gov was 'open for business.'"

A hundred people show up in Pittsburgh at an event that was promoted by the Pittsburgh Steelers. I know the team's, what, 0 4, 5, whatever, but still. It's the Steelers, the owner Dan Rooney. He's going to be profoundly respected no matter how the team plays. One hundred people in a seminar on how to sign up for Obamacare and how wonderful Obamacare is, and, of course, with that big star, Kathleen Sebelius. I'm just telling you that all of Washington is being seen in a very ugly light right now and my point to you is that can't be all bad for those of us who like limited government.

Get this. This is from Fox News: "A classroom of 14 and 15-year-old Illinois high school students --" Listen to this. If you think that we're losing, listen to this. "A classroom of 14 and 15-year-old Illinois high school students was assigned the task of deciding the fate of ten fictional characters in an exercise that critics called a lesson in death panels. The assignment was part of a sociology unit for freshmen and sophomore students at St. Joseph-Ogden High School in St. Joseph, just east of Champaign. ... The lesson involves 10 people who are in desperate need of kidney dialysis."

Unless they get it, they will die. And the classroom of 14 and 15 year olds was assigned the task of deciding who among those fictional characters got treated. The 14 and 15 year olds were shown an aspect of Obamacare, death panels. This is not 2009 where back then these same kids would have been singing "Barack Hussein Obama, mmm, mmm, mmm."

Policy makers, privacy advocates and political leaders around the world have been outraged at the near weekly disclosures from former intelligence contractor Edward Snowden that expose sweeping U.S. government surveillance programs.

"Until this summer, people didn't know anything about the NSA," said Center for International Security and Cooperation at Stanford University co-director Amy Zegart. "Their own secrecy has come back to bite them."

This week, researchers at Carnegie Mellon University released a smartphone app called SafeSlinger they say encrypts text messages so they cannot be read by cell carriers, Internet providers, employers "or anyone else."

CryptoParties are springing up around the world as well. They are small gatherings where hosts teach attendees, who bring their digital devices, how to download and use encrypted email and secure Internet browsers.

The Washington Post reports that the ObamaCare site problems are even worse than originally believed. It is not just the buyer-end of the ObamaCare website that is unworkable, so is the back end that is supposed to tell insurance providers who their new customers are. This might also explain why the White House is refusing to release to the media the number of ObamaCare enrollees: they just don't know.

The problems stem from a feature of the online marketplace’s computer system that is designed to send each insurer a daily report listing people who have just enrolled. According to several insurance industry officials, the reports are sometimes confusing and duplicative. In some cases, they show — correctly or not — that the same person enrolled and canceled several times on a single day.

The only possible silver lining in this for the administration might be that the sporadic reports of the shockingly low number of enrollees are incorrect. More people might be signing up that what those reports suggest. Unfortunately for them, their insurance providers just don't know it.

Larry Nichols, former 10 year accomplice to the Clintons, can now add hit-man to his list of dirty deeds.  Nichols dropped a bombshell on The Pete Santilli Show when he very calmly admitted that he had murdered people, on command, for Bill and Hillary Clinton.  Mr. Nichols has been a voice crying out in the wilderness since he brought to light the sexual brutality of Bill Clinton during his reign as Governor in Arkansas. That information would eventually play a key role to Clinton's impeachment in the 90′s.  Larry says he makes no apologies.

They sent me overseas to kill people for them and told me it was for the good of the Country. So when they asked me to do it for them in the States it felt no different. The real truth is, I did it for the money and I didn't give a shit about the women I beat and the men I murdered.  The Clintons are bad people and I did bad things for them.  I had to live with that all of these years and now I just don't care anymore who knows it.

Larry maintains the Clintons were into so many illegal activities at the time, they had to have a team of mercenaries made up of friends and state-troopers to cover it all up and keep them protected from the public finding out.  According to Larry Nichols, both Bill and Hillary were wild and out of control and both were relentless in their pursuit for money and power.  From running drugs, to the rape and beating of women and young girls, both of the Clintons are guilty of the unspeakable crimes.

I remember handing the magazine to a young male who told me that is was too late because his girlfriend was already inside. … I asked him to read the magazine anyway… I watched him flip through the pages in his car from the sidewalk. I watched him hold his head in his hands, and he let out a gut-wrenching sigh. … He held his head in his hand and kept saying, “This is me. I am that boyfriend who takes my girlfriend for more than one abortion.” He got out his cellphone and tried to call her and then sobbed that it was really too late. BUT…he said he would NOT be bringing her back. He also said IF ONLY YOU WERE HERE AN HOUR EARLIER! That statement really got me, because I am only one person, and as many people we have on our team it is often hard to cover and catch all the abortion hours at each mill.

I don’t hate them per definition, but I condemn them because they are the worst kind of racialists, they are elitist Leninists with contempt for traditional America. They display disrespect for the sanctity of the office he holds, and for those who are willing to admit same Michelle Obama’s raw contempt for white America is transpicuous.

 

I don’t like them, and I neither apologize nor retreat from my public condemnation of them and of his policies. We should condemn them for the disrespect they show our people, for his willful and unconstitutional actions pursuant to obeying the Constitutional parameters he is bound by, and his willful disregard for Congressional authority.

Dislike for them has nothing to do with the color of their skin, it has everything to do with their behavior, attitudes, and policies. And I have open scorn for their playing the race.

It is my intention to do all within my ability to ensure their reign is one term. I could go on, but let me conclude with this. I condemn in the strongest possible terms the media for refusing to investigate them as they did President Bush and President Clinton, and for refusing to label them for what they truly are. There is no scenario known to man, whereby a white president and his wife could ignore laws, flaunt their position, and lord over the people as these two are permitted out of fear for their color.

As I wrote in a syndicated column titled “Nero In The White House” – “Never in my life, inside or outside of politics, have I witnessed such dishonesty in a political leader. He is the most mendacious political figure I have ever witnessed. Even by the low standards of his presidential predecessors, his narcissistic, contumacious arrogance is unequalled. Using Obama as the bar, Nero would have to be elevated to sainthood…Many in America wanted to be proud when the first person of color was elected president, but instead, they have been witness to a congenital liar, a woman who has been ashamed of America her entire life, failed policies, intimidation and a commonality hitherto not witnessed in political leaders. The Education Action Group, a conservative education reform organization, and Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty, a conservative public interest law firm, sponsor the new website, TeacherFreedom.org.

The site generates an automated letter.

“I object to paying any further union dues, fees, or assessments. I demand that you issue a refund of any prepaid dues to which I am entitled. This letter is also notice that I hereby revoke any agreement in place to automatically deduct union dues, fees, or assessments from my earnings or from any of my accounts or to charge such fees on my credit card.”

“Any further collection of dues or fees from me will violate my rights under Wisconsin law,” concludes the letter.

Teachers can print the letter and send it in to their union representative and employer.

Some 400 unions representing more than 60,000 school district employees will face re-certification elections in November, meaning government union membership in Wisconsin could plunge even further.

TeacherFreedom.org, a new website sponsored by Education Action Group and the Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty, reminds teachers that they don’t have to belong to any branch of WEAC, the American Federation of Teachers or any other teachers union.

As the website says, under Act 10, “union membership is completely voluntary. You cannot legally be fired from your job or be penalized for belonging to a union or refraining from membership.

“Before Act 10, unions could require nonmembers as a contingency of employment to pay agency fees to cover the costs associated with collective bargaining. Since Act 10, nonmembers can no longer be forced to pay agency fees or otherwise be forced to make mandatory contributions to their union.”

Since the law changed, many school districts have been recruiting and negotiating with veteran teachers, with no salary restrictions. School districts are now free to pay whatever they can afford to attract reputable teachers, and teachers are free to accept higher salaries.

Some Wisconsin school administrators have reported offering teachers from other districts raises of $10,000 or more to make the switch.

“I think, over the next few years, a lot of Wisconsin educators will be excited to learn about their increased value on the open market,” Olson said. “Teachers are extremely important professionals, and community school districts are under a lot of pressure from parents to attract the best possible educators.
