CNN.com contributor Sally Kohn wrote a piece titled "A canceled health plan is a good thing." You're not getting what you want; you're getting what you need. Kohn -- unsheathing the "public good" justification that opponents of same-sex marriage regularly use -- failed to mention even once that the president explicitly assured Americans while campaigning for the Affordable Care Act that "if you like your plan, you can keep it." NBC News is reporting that the Obama administration knew that millions of Americans would probably lose their current health plans because of the implementation of the law, yet it went on lying. 

It's almost as if some people believe lying is acceptable -- even preferable -- if the political outcomes are morally pleasing to them. Many Obamacare supporters, in fact, are beginning to sound as if they couldn't care less about process, the law, order, competence or anything that undermines the goal of putting your health care choices into more capable hands.

In health care and other things, we often pick plans that offer us something we value above other things. Americans don't need all their plans to look the same. Maybe some of them like the customer service; maybe some like the stability of staying with one company for many years. This is why having 600 toasters in an open market is preferable to having a handful of choices in a fabricated "market" exchange -- and why choice is better for us than coercion.

Americans who sign up for Obamacare will be getting a big surprise if they expect to access premium health care that may have been previously covered under their personal policies. Most of the top hospitals will accept insurance from just one or two companies operating under Obamacare.

Regulations driven by the Obama White House have indeed made insurance more affordable – if, like Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, you're looking only at price. But responding to Obamacare caps on premiums, many insurers will, in turn, simply offer top-tier doctors and hospitals far less cash for services rendered.

Watchdog.org looked at the top 18 hospitals nationwide as ranked by U.S. News and World Report for 2013-2014. We contacted each hospital to determine their contracts and talked to several insurance companies, as well.

The result of our investigation: Many top hospitals are simply opting out of Obamacare.

Four other Obamacare disasters the media ignored

In today’s Politico, reporters admit the mainstream media turned a blind eye and deaf ear to conservatives’ warnings about Obamacare—that not all Americans could keep their plans. But with 1.5 million Americans (and counting) receiving cancellation notices because their individual health plans don’t comply with Obamacare, the media are doing an about-face.

This isn’t the only Obamacare warning the media have ignored. Heritage and other health experts have warned about four more potential Obamacare disasters for years:

1. Back-Door Public Option: Office of Personnel Management (OPM) next year will administer at least two nationwide health plans that will compete against private insurance. OPM is responsible for these plans’ pricing, profits, and operations.

“INSTEAD OF FAIR COMPETITION WITH PRIVATE HEALTH PLANS, CONGRESS IS SPONSORING THE EQUIVALENT OF A NATIONAL MONOPOLY,” MOFFIT WROTE.

2. Illegal Subsidies to Congressional Members and Their Staffs:

Cancellations in Employer-Sponsored Insurance: Much of the recent media focus is on cancellations for customers with individual insurance plans, but Heritage, the Congressional Budget Office, Deloitte, McKinsey & Co., and other organizations have warned for years that businesses will drop health coverage for their employees and dump them onto the federal health exchanges. With higher health costs, it will be cheaper for many companies to pay Obamacare’s employer mandate fine rather than pay for expensive, government-mandated health plans.

MADISON — Out-of-state special interests spent tens of millions of dollars in meetings largely behind closed doors to get at Wisconsin’s most precious natural resource: its kids.
That’s not a conspiracy. It’s fact.

The Huffington Post ran an audit of organizations that have received money from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to promote or develop Common Core State Standards.
The writer found:

“In total, the four organizations primarily responsible for (Common Core State Standards) – (National Governors Association), (Council of Chief State School Officers), Achieve, and Student Achievement Partners – have taken $147.9 million from Bill Gates.”

DOUBLE STANDARD? Democrats badgered experts who were reimbursed to testify against Common Core standards, but care nothing about who paid to promote the standards.

Eight organizations received $21 million from Gates in total for the purpose of advancing Common Core, including American Enterprise Institute, American Federation of Teachers and the Thomas B. Fordham Institute.
Even the much-hated-by-the-left American Legislative Exchange Council received a Gates Foundation grant for $376,635 just days before a meeting on drafting model legislation opposing Common Core.

The model legislation was dropped.

State Democrats who decried corporate influence and secretiveness when the Republican-led Legislature passed mining regulation reform have backed away from the same kind of scrutiny on new national education standards on which upwards of 87 percent of school children in the United States will be tested.

Instead, state Democrats on Common Core Select Committees have taken aim at American Opinion Foundation, a nonprofit organization with ties to the conspiratorial John Birch Society, for paying for the flights, hotel rooms and meals of half a dozen speakers invited to testify in opposition to Common Core.

Alan Scholl, executive director of American Opinion Foundation, which founded Freedom Project Education, an online classical education homeschool that opposes Common Core, defended his organization after Sen. John Lehman, D-Racine, questioned the motives of experts testifying against the standards.

“Parents and grandparents of Wisconsin students, more than 40 of them, collected the fund that was used to bring he and other witnesses hear at this hearing,” Scholl said at the Eau Claire hearing. “Not one dollar of AOF money went into the pocket of any of those witnesses.”

Scholl said AOF produced the check, but it was entirely funded by Wisconsin citizens. The total was less than $6,000.

Citizens testified to dropping $10 or $12 in the proverbial hat to help bring in expert testimony.

The witnesses include:

• Sandra Stotsky, a member of the Common Core validation committee credited with leading development of the widely lauded Massachusetts education standards
• James Milgram, member of the Common Core validation committee and Stanford mathematician
• Gary Thompson, a clinical psychologist at Early Life Child Psychology and Education Center
• Ze’ev Wurman, a U.S. Department of Education official in the George W. Bush administration who evaluated Common Core Standards for California
• Ted Rebarber, CEO and founder of AccountabilityWorks, a nonprofit education group.

Democrats haven’t been interested in posing the questions brought forth by these experts to the education bureaucrats that support Common Core.

But they did put out a press release Oct. 25 slamming the involvement of the Birchers.
“We are certainly disappointed that this fringe organization has been invited by you to represent theoretically “mainstream” opposition to the well-reasoned Common Core Standards,” Lehman and Rep. Sondy Pope, D-Middleton, wrote to the committee chairs.
Rep. Christine Sinicki, D-Milwaukee, who hasn’t appeared at a Common Core public hearing since the first one held in Madison, wrote a letter asking committee chairmen to accept her resignation from the committee.

“It has become painfully clear that this committee and its activities are occurring at the behest of interested parties outside of this Legislature, and even this state,” she wrote.
In a letter Friday, tea party leaders called out lawmakers for their apparent double standards.

“It is David and Goliath — our tiny little sum against the Gates Foundation’s millions; the efforts of concerned parents, grandparents and other concerned citizens against a supremely wealthy foundation that has busily been buying a path forward for CCSS over the past few years,” wrote local tea party leaders Ruth Elmer and Ed Perkins in an open letter to the committee and news media. “Yet, somehow, we…are painted as the suspicious characters, the extremists…the bad guys.”

“We think Sen. Lehman, Rep. Pope, and Rep. Sinicki owe us — and the concerned citizens of Wisconsin — an explanation. Not the other way around,” they wrote.

CHRISTMAS TRADITION - THINK LOCALLY

Birth of a New Tradition

As the holidays approach, the giant Asian factories are kicking into high gear to provide Americans with monstrous piles of cheaply produced goods -- merchandise that has been produced at the expense of American labor.

This year will be different. This year Americans will give the gift of genuine concern for other Americans. There is no longer an excuse that, at gift giving time, nothing can be found that is produced by American hands. Oh.... Yes there is! It is time to think outside the box, people. Who says a gift needs to fit in a shirt box, wrapped in Chinese produced wrapping paper?

Everyone -- yes EVERYONE gets their hair cut. How about gift certificates from your local American hair salon or barber?

Gym membership? It's appropriate for all ages who are thinking about some health improvement.

Who wouldn't appreciate getting their car detailed? Small, American owned detail shops and car washes would love to sell you a gift certificate or a book of gift certificates.

Are you one of those extravagant givers who think nothing of plunking down the Benjamins on a Chinese-made flat-screen TV? Perhaps that grateful gift receiver would like his driveway sealed, or lawn mowed for the summer, or driveway plowed all winter, or games at the local golf course.

There are a gazillion owner-run restaurants -- all offering gift certificates. And, if your intended isn't the fancy eatery sort, what about a half dozen breakfasts at the local breakfast joint.

Remember, folks this isn't about big National chains -- this is about supporting your home town Americans with their financial lives on the line to keep their doors open.

How many people couldn't use an oil change for their car, truck or motorcycle, done at a shop run by the American working guy?

Thinking about a heartfelt gift for mom? Mom would LOVE the services of a local cleaning lady for a day.

My computer could use a tune-up, and I KNOW I can find some young guy who is struggling to get his repair business up and running.

OK, you were looking for something more personal. Local crafts people spin their own wool and knit them into scarves. They make jewelry, and pottery and beautiful wooden boxes.

Plan your holiday outings at local, owner operated restaurants and leave your server a nice tip.

And, how about going out to see a play or ballet at your hometown theater. Musicians need love too, so find a venue showcasing local bands.

Honestly people, do you REALLY need to buy another ten thousand Chinese lights for the house? When you buy a five dollar string of light, about fifty cents stays in the community.

If you have those kinds of bucks to burn, leave the mailman, trash guy or babysitter a nice BIG tip.

You see, Christmas is no longer about draining American pockets so that China can build another glittering city. Christmas is now about caring about US (We the People), encouraging American small businesses to keep plugging away to follow their dreams. And, when we care about other Americans, we care about our communities, and the benefits come back to us in ways we could not imagine.

THIS is the new American Christmas tradition!!

Face facts: If the white half of Obama were showing rather than the black half, then the majority of the black community would have long ago called for his impeachment. The facts are, you are not better off than you were five years ago. As Dr. Ben Carson has said, the black community is becoming slaves to Democratic liberals.

I am not a racist and never have been, however, I'm losing all respect for the majority of blacks for two reasons: first, the deliberate playing of the race card about everything; and second, the deplorable use of African-American to describe yourselves. I have never and will never put any country before America in name or otherwise. I fought for it and saw many fine Americans, both black and white and other ethnic origins, die for it. But what I did not see was Africans fighting and dying for America.

If students in English class are not reading Frankenstein, then what are they reading that might qualify as fiction or, er, literature? That’s where the textbook takes us “live from New York . . . it’s Saturday Night!” Yes, under the heading “Contemporary Connection,” this literature book apportions five pages (two more than are given to Mary Shelley) to a script of a Saturday Night Live parody of Frankenstein. First, students are invited “to share their impressions of the long-running comedy show.” (In our day, did we have to be told by our English teachers to watch SNL?) Again the talented-and-gifted students are called to the fore, as they are supposed to obtain props, costumes, and make-up that will enable them to “take roles and do a dramatic reading” of the script. Let us look at a specimen of that timeless scene:

Villager #1: [to Head Villager] Well, maybe you’re the monster!

Head Villager: [shakes his head] I’m not the monster! [points to Frankenstein’s monster] Look at ’im! He’s got a square head and green skin!

Frankenstein’s Monster: Oh, great—now it’s a racial thing! You know what? You guys are a bunch of fascists! [villager with a lit torch again steps too close] Seriously, du-ude! Get that fire away from me! . . .

Lest the teacher not know how to explain the term fascist, the Teacher’s Edition lends a hand:

Point out the use of the term fascist. Explain its traditional political meaning and how it has been extended to refer to any right-wing extremist group.

Mmm . . . “Any right-wing extremist group”: might that term extend to the Tea Party?

Gay activists are successfully getting laws passed in cities around the country that discriminate against Christians.  The laws are called nondiscrimination laws by the LGBT activists pushing through one city council after another.  So far, over 180 cities have passed these so-called nondiscrimination ordinances.

In essence the laws provide special protection to LGBT individuals while at the same time; they place huge restrictions on the religious rights of Christians.  For instance, the San Antonio city council voted 8-3 to pass their ordinance that bans any form of discrimination based upon sexual orientation or gender identity. 

Their ban went so far as to forbid anyone who does not openly accept or support gay rights from conducting any business with the city.  Violating the ordinance is a Class C misdemeanor that could result in a fine of up to $500 per day.

Today, we find nearly 200 cities with nondiscriminatory ordinances.  By the end of the year the number will most likely be well over 200.  It wouldn’t surprise me to see a federal law passed sometime before the end of 2014 that discriminates against Christians and provides the special protection for gays.  If left unchecked, by the end of 2015 we could well see any public show of Christianity to be outlawed because it offends someone somewhere.  No one cares about offending Christians because we’re just lower class citizens anyway.
