The Bible is No ‘Pro-Slavery Document’

Patriot Update – Tad Cronn – 5/7/2012

The Bible is the most profound collection of documents written in ancient times about the freedom of humanity. The overarching narrative is about mankind’s imprisonment in sin through its own actions, and its eventual return to freedom through a personal relationship with God.

So how could such a document condone the human institution of slavery?

That is one of the gravest and most devastating accusations leveled against the Bible by critics. And it is one that is increasingly used to promote homosexuality.

If the Bible can be so wrong about slavery, the argument goes, then it’s probably also wrong about homosexuals as well.

The well-written article offers a balanced discussion to Dan Savages’ one-sided argument.

  1. Bullying is when an empowered group belittles a disempowered group. When a disempowered group speaks against an empowered group in this manner it is considered satire. The election results from North Carolina support the inequity against GLTB people in the US reinforces Dan Savage's comments were satire.

  2. Andy, changing the term from bully to satire is not much of an argument. It's still a behavior that's a choice. Dan Savage chose to belittle Christian students who belive what the Bible teaches about life. Bullying is a destructive behavior. Satire is humor that cuts. The root of sarcasm means to tear flesh Dan Savage apparently has chosen those tactics to get his message across. Hurt people will hurt other people. This armchair psychologist sees little Dan experiencing pain somewhere as he grew up. And rather than looking at Christianity and forgiveness, he's chosen the path of anger and bullying. And the election results in North Carolina simply define marriage as a union between one man and one woman. That can hardly be considered bullying. It's a law. Bullying is a behavior
