FEDERALLY SUBSIDIZED WINDMILLS KILL MILLIONS

Stop subsidizing the slaughter
http://townhall.com/columnists/pauldriessen/2012/12/15/stop-subsidizing-the-slaughter-n1467370/page/full/
Townhall – Paul Driessen – 12/15/2012

Wind energy is a net jobs and economic loser. By raising electricity costs for factories, internet hubs, offices, malls, hospitals, school districts and other businesses, industrial wind power kills two to four jobs for every wind job created through government mandates, subsidies and tax credits – which themselves extract billions of dollars from productive sectors of the economy, to support Big Wind. Its impact on the budgets, health and well-being of people on low and fixed incomes is equally damaging.

From an ecological standpoint, wind is our least sustainable energy option. Industrial wind projects require huge swaths of land, often in pristine area, for turbines, access roads and ultra-long transmission lines. Turbines and transmission towers require enormous quantities of steel, concrete, rare earth metals, copper, unrecyclable fiberglass and other materials – more than fossil fuel power plants that generate 90% of US electricity. It makes far more sense to build conventional power plants, and forget about the wind.

The US Fish and Wildlife Service and American Bird Conservancy say wind turbines kill 440,000 bald and golden eagles, hawks, falcons, owls, cranes, egrets, geese and other birds every year in the United States. Turbines also eradicate countless night-flying, insect-eating bats. However, new studies reveal that these estimates are frightfully low, and based on misleading or even fraudulent data. The horrific reality is that, in the United States alone, “eco-friendly” wind turbines are killing an estimated  13,000,000 to 39,000,000 birds and bats every year!

The Interior Department has used sage grouse and lesser prairie chickens to justify prohibitions on oil leasing and drilling, and prosecuted oil companies for unintentional deaths of 28 mallard ducks in North Dakota – but it has never penalized a single wind turbine company for eco-slaughter. Now its Fish and Wildlife Service wants to issue “programmatic take permits” that would allow wind turbine operators to repeatedly, systematically, legally and “inadvertently” injure, maim and kill eagles, cranes and condors.

Possess a feather from an eagle killed by a wind turbine, trap a bat in your attic or smash a goose egg – and the penalties are swift and severe. But kill eagles, bats, geese or whooping cranes with a wind turbine, and there is no penalty and no outrage from the Sierra Club – only more subsidies and tax credits, and more exemptions from the Endangered Species Act, Migratory Bird Treaty Act and NEPA/EIS studies.

Before acting on the PTC, Congress should demand an accurate and verifiable 2012 winter count for the whooping cranes, along with complete age class figures – and prohibit the Fish and Wildlife Service from implementing any programmatic take permit system for eagles and other birds. It should also demand a multi-year, independent, transparent study of bird and bat mortality, at every wind facility in America, before allowing the PTC to be extended or another turbine facility to be built in the United States.

Allowing current practices to continue – or worse, permitting Big Wind to expand to generate 25% of US electricity – would be a catastrophe of monumental proportions. Millions more birds and bats will die, and entire species will disappear from habitats, geographic regions and throughout the United States.

WILL CHINA BEAT THE U.S.? (NOT THE OLYMPICS)

Hard Facts on China
China has 19% of the world’s population, but consumes ...
53% of the world's cement
48% of the world's iron ore
47% of the world's coal
.... and the majority of just about every other major commodity.
In 2010, China produced 11 times more steel than the United States.
New World Record: China made and sold 18 million vehicles in 2010.
There are more pigs in China than in the next 43 pork producing nations combined.
China currently has the world’s fastest train and the world’s largest high-speed rail network.

China is currently the number one producer in the world of wind and solar power, but don’t use it themselves. While they manufacture 80% of the world’s solar panels, they install less than 5% and build a new coal fired power station every week. In one year they turn on more new coal powered electricity than Australia's total output.
China currently controls more than 90% of the total global supply of rare earth elements.
In the past 15 years, China has moved from 14th place to 2nd place in the world in published scientific research articles.
China now possesses the fastest supercomputer on the entire globe.
At the end of March 2011, China accumulated US$3.04 trillion in foreign currency reserves --the largest stockpile on the entire globe.
Chinese people consume 50,000 cigarettes every second …
They are already the largest carbon dioxide emitter and their output will rise 70% by 2020.
~*~*~*~*~*~
And we think we're saving the planet?! It will not make one iota of difference what we do in Australia, Canada, the United States or anywhere else in the world; for that matter,

ALL THE POLITICIANS ARE DOING IS INCREASING OUR COST OF LIVING AND MAKING OUR MANUFACTURERS UNCOMPETITIVE IN THE WORLD MARKET, WITH THEIR IDIOTIC CARBON TAX, WHEN COUNTRIES LIKE CHINA ARE GROWING AND CONSUMING AT THESE EXTRAORDINARY RATES!

Time to wake up!

U.S. OIL IS ABUNDANT; PERMITS ARE NOT

Federal Lands Sit on Oil Deposit Bitter Than All Known Oil Reserves Combinedhttp://godfatherpolitics.com/5188/federal-lands-sit-on-oil-deposit-bigger-than-all-known-oil-reserves-combined/
GodfatherPolitics – Tad Cronn – 5/14/2012

Now comes a report from the General Accounting Office, an investigative arm of Congress, that a chunk of federal land known as the Green River Formation, at the juncture of Colorado, Utah and Wyoming, not only contains a lot of oil, but it may contain more oil than the rest of the world’s proven reserves.

Blogger comment: If America becomes energy self-sufficient, our need for military presence around the world diminishes. Troops will not be required to protect American access to foreign resources. Job growth is enhanced and small businesses begin. Tax revenues increase and American debt can be repaid.

ENERGY DEPT: FOSSIL FUEL PRODUCTION DOWN ON FEDERAL LANDS

BECAUSE OF RED TAPE
Government Data Undercut Obama’s Energy Claims
Washington Times – Dave Boyer – 3/15/2012

Countering President Obama’s claim that he’s doing everything he can to increase domestic oil production, a top House Republican Thursday released data from the Energy Department  . . .
The information compiled by the Energy Information Administration shows that total fossil fuel production on federal lands has dropped 7 percent since 2009 and 13 percent since 2003. From 2010 to 2011, total oil production on federal lands is down 14 percent and gas production dropped 11 percent.

“These nonpartisan statistics show federal oil and natural gas productions are declining as President Obama’s anti-energy policies catch up with him,” Mr. Hastings said in a statement. “President Obama has been more than happy to take credit for his predecessors’ actions to advance energy production on federal lands, however, we know that WHILE BRINGING FEDERAL OIL AND NATURAL GAS PRODUCTION ONLINE CAN TAKE THE BETTER PART OF A DECADE, SLOWING PRODUCTION CAN HAPPEN RELATIVELY QUICKLY.”

Republicans argue that Mr. Obama isn’t doing enough to increase energy production on federal lands, action that is directly in his control.

Mr. Hastings said the EIA data reveals that America is relying increasingly on oil and natural gas production on state and private lands. He said that’s due to “regulations, red tape and President Obama’s policies that are driving production off of federal lands.”

“House Republicans have passed a bipartisan all-of-the-above energy plan that opens federal waters with the most known oil and natural gas resources to increase American energy production, create jobs, lower gasoline prices and make America more energy secure,” Mr. Hastings said.

DEPRIVING AMERICA OF HER NATURAL RESOURCES

ENVIRONMENTALISM – DEPRIVING AMERICA OF HER NATURAL RESOURCES

Right Side news – Ray Peach – 2/26/2012
In his campaign speech on February 23rd, 2012, Obama blamed everyone but himself for the rise in fuel prices, stating that there were international pressures on the price of oil that are beyond his control. He went on to criticize Republicans for saying that the solution was to drill, drill, drill – saying instead that the answer was to use algae as a source of fuel. Amazingly, he then boasted that under his administration domestic oil and gas production has increased; but as the Heritage Foundation reported on January 18th, 2012, “Under Obama, Oil and Gas Production on Federal Lands is Down 40%.” There has been an increase in production on private land, but if Obama’s EPA has its way, energy production won’t be happening there either.
On February 5th of 2009, Interior Secretary Ken Salazar canceled oil and gas leases on 77 parcels of federal land, and then on the 26th, he canceled all oil shale development in Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming – claiming that the “new” process of extracting oil and gas, called hydrofracking needed to be studied before it can be used.
He placed a moratorium on off-shore drilling, driving companies like Sea Hawk Oil into bankruptcy, while subsidizing oil companies in Brazil. On February 17th 2012, Obama raised the Royalties on Oil Companies by 50% and his new budget proposes to tax all oil and coal production out of existence.
A point that needs to be made is that destroying the energy sector doesn’t just increase the price of fuel; it destroys our ability to produce fertilizers and insecticides, affecting a decrease in crop yields.  America is an industrialized country and we use energy to sow, irrigate, harvest, transport, and process food. Without energy, most of the people you know will starve, suffer heat stroke, or freeze to death.

The question is why has environmentalism become the force it is today; and what do we do about it? This is the first in a four part series exploring the answers to these and other questions about the realities of environmentalism. The first two articles explore the pseudo science that drives environmentalism; the third explores the economics behind environmentalism; and the forth explores the religious aspects of environmentalism.
