The benefits of natural gas as a fuel — for heating homes, generating electricity, and as a raw material — are far-reaching, but Americans should be particularly intrigued by the effect that natural gas fracking is already having on local and state economies in gas-rich regions throughout the country. Fracking as an economic solution makes sense on all levels, and in states like North Dakota, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Texas, and others where the government has taken a common-sense approach to natural gas development, Americans are reaping the benefits. Unfortunately, the environmental lobby is halting progress in California and New York, and the Obama administration seems more concerned with assuaging radical green interests than improving the nation’s fiscal health.

Every job created by fracking means one more American earning a salary, spending money, and paying taxes, and one fewer American collecting unemployment from the government. This is the tried-and-true formula for debt reduction — the greater the ratio of people paying into the system versus people collecting, the sounder our fiscal situation will be. And among job-creation initiatives, fracking is particularly enticing, because it doesn’t require the government to do anything except stand out of the way. Natural gas development is driven by entrepreneurs and businesses taking risks, not by stimulus spending that only drives the debt higher.

The money generated by the burgeoning fracking boom won’t by itself pay down the $17.5 trillion national debt, but it’s a step in the right direction at a time when our country is searching for answers. Smart, pro-growth policies that strengthen the economy will cause the debt to shrink organically, reducing the amount of cuts that will be needed to eliminate it. Politicians — from the White House to state legislatures — need to listen to the numbers instead of fringe environmentalists, and set policies that promote responsible natural gas development.

ODANAH, Wis. - A former tribal council member said Friday he can't understand why the Bad River Indian Reservation's council isn't making inadequate treatment of its sewage more of a priority.

With a tribal election set for Tuesday, Tom Deragon Jr., who said he sat on the tribal council for a year, has put up a sign along U.S. 2, near the Bad River Casino, seeking to "raise community awareness" about the tribe's polluting of the Bad River and Lake Superior.

"Nothing's getting done," he said. "I don't understand why the Environmental Protection Agency isn't coming down harder on this," Deragon said.

Deragon said many other tribal members support his views and his father and brother-in-law helped him put up the sign, which criticizes current tribal chairman Michael Wiggins Jr. for not making a better effort to get the wastewater system into compliance.

"Our kids weren't able to swim this summer because of high E. coli readings," he said, noting Waverly and Madigan beaches on Lake Superior were shut down. He said it was the first time he could recall that happening.

Earlier this year, the EPA ordered the Bad River Band of Chippewa to make upgrades to its wastewater treatment facilities by Jan. 31.

The tribe has received numerous violation citations from the EPA for several years, including failing to meet reporting requirements and failure to comply with effluent requirements for phosporus, E. coli, suspended solids and biochemical oxygen demand.

Virginia gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe and three top GreenTech advisers met with the key White House aide responsible for helping bankrupt solar-panel maker Solyndra win federal loans and high-profile presidential support, a Watchdog investigation has revealed an Oct. 12, 2010, meeting with Obama “green energy” aide Greg Nelson. The confab came seven months after a stock transfer made McAuliffe a GreenTech majority owner and company chairman.

Months before the GreenTech meeting at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave., White House officials already knew Solyndra was on the ropes.

Eight months later a GreenTech lawyer was emailing U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Director Alejandro Mayorkas, begging his agency to fast track approval of visa applications for the company’s foreign investors under the federal EB-5 program.

In addition to Nelson and McAuliffe, the White House meeting included GreenTech finance director Gary Yi Tang, immigration and EB-5 attorney Steve Yale-Loehr and Northwestern University economist Michael K. Evans.

Yale-Loehr was on retainer for Gulf Coast Funds, which raises EB-5 funds for GreenTech.

Evans had written a report detailing the impact of locating a GreenTech manufacturing plant in Tunica, Miss. He has also analyzed other projects seeking EB-5 funding.

Nelson, whose official White House title was deputy director of Public Engagement, was by his own accord “the member of the Public Liaison team charged with reaching out to the environmental community.”

A series of emails obtained by the media show his role in the Solyndra debacle.

The FBI raided Solyndra for cooking its books, it filed for bankruptcy and employees sued. Taxpayers were left funding the whole debacle.

Documents released last week reveal that that Securities and Exchange Commission is investigating GreenTech’s sister company Gulf Coast Funds, stating that there’s “possible fraud” in the firm’s pursuit of EB-5 investors,primarily those in China.

GreenTech is behind schedule in rolling out thousands of electric vehicles while as many as 81 foreign nationals who invested at least $500,000 each are awaiting visas.

Nelson in the White House was promoted  to chief of staff for the White House’s National Economic Council.

Wind energy is a net jobs and economic loser. By raising electricity costs for factories, internet hubs, offices, malls, hospitals, school districts and other businesses, industrial wind power kills two to four jobs for every wind job created through government mandates, subsidies and tax credits – which themselves extract billions of dollars from productive sectors of the economy, to support Big Wind. Its impact on the budgets, health and well-being of people on low and fixed incomes is equally damaging.

From an ecological standpoint, wind is our least sustainable energy option. Industrial wind projects require huge swaths of land, often in pristine area, for turbines, access roads and ultra-long transmission lines. Turbines and transmission towers require enormous quantities of steel, concrete, rare earth metals, copper, unrecyclable fiberglass and other materials – more than fossil fuel power plants that generate 90% of US electricity. It makes far more sense to build conventional power plants, and forget about the wind.

The US Fish and Wildlife Service and American Bird Conservancy say wind turbines kill 440,000 bald and golden eagles, hawks, falcons, owls, cranes, egrets, geese and other birds every year in the United States. Turbines also eradicate countless night-flying, insect-eating bats. However, new studies reveal that these estimates are frightfully low, and based on misleading or even fraudulent data. The horrific reality is that, in the United States alone, “eco-friendly” wind turbines are killing an estimated  13,000,000 to 39,000,000 birds and bats every year!

The Interior Department has used sage grouse and lesser prairie chickens to justify prohibitions on oil leasing and drilling, and prosecuted oil companies for unintentional deaths of 28 mallard ducks in North Dakota – but it has never penalized a single wind turbine company for eco-slaughter. Now its Fish and Wildlife Service wants to issue “programmatic take permits” that would allow wind turbine operators to repeatedly, systematically, legally and “inadvertently” injure, maim and kill eagles, cranes and condors.

Possess a feather from an eagle killed by a wind turbine, trap a bat in your attic or smash a goose egg – and the penalties are swift and severe. But kill eagles, bats, geese or whooping cranes with a wind turbine, and there is no penalty and no outrage from the Sierra Club – only more subsidies and tax credits, and more exemptions from the Endangered Species Act, Migratory Bird Treaty Act and NEPA/EIS studies.

Before acting on the PTC, Congress should demand an accurate and verifiable 2012 winter count for the whooping cranes, along with complete age class figures – and prohibit the Fish and Wildlife Service from implementing any programmatic take permit system for eagles and other birds. It should also demand a multi-year, independent, transparent study of bird and bat mortality, at every wind facility in America, before allowing the PTC to be extended or another turbine facility to be built in the United States.

Allowing current practices to continue – or worse, permitting Big Wind to expand to generate 25% of US electricity – would be a catastrophe of monumental proportions. Millions more birds and bats will die, and entire species will disappear from habitats, geographic regions and throughout the United States.

Will President Obama, Congress and Executive Branch agencies now be more receptive to bipartisan approaches – to institutionalizing all-of-the-above (and below) energy decisions that make scientific, economic, environmental and technological sense? Or will key factions be even more entrenched, knowing the White House can act via executive decree, if Congress does nothing?

In a sequence in Al Gore's 2006 thoroughly debunked, propaganda laced documentary "An Inconvenient Truth", there's a famous shot of Antarctic ice shelves breaking apart. As discovered by ABC News in 2008, it was actually computer-generated imagery used in the opening credits from the 2004 movie "The Day After Tomorrow."

Now reinvigorated by the electoral success of the scientifically clueless Obama and his cronies, Gore is involved in a new bit of lunacy called the "Climate Reality Project." In early October 2012, Al Gore's Carthage Group tried again to drum up global-warming hysteria by securing the film rights to a naturally occurring firestorm filmed by Alice Springs Film and Television (ASFTV) in Australia. An Alice Springs filmmaker refused to sell footage of the firestorm to former US vice-president Al Gore — to use in Mr Gore’s climate presentations — because the event was unrelated to climate change. Using the footage in a climate-change framework would be “deliberately deceptive”. A fire tornado is a totally natural (but rare) phenomena which has been observed on multiple occasions over man's history on earth. An extreme example is the 1923 Great Kantō earthquake in Japan which ignited a large city-sized firestorm and produced a gigantic fire tornado that killed 38,000 in fifteen minutes in the Hifukusho-Ato region of Tokyo.

Unfortunately Al Gore combines his inherent stupidity with a mind numbing amount of blind persistence; so he unrelentingly tried a second time to get the ASFTV release of the fire tornado video via a new request from the management of the Climate Reality Project.
ASFTV responded as follows:

"As I'm sure you are aware I have previously refused a request for this footage from your Founder and Chairman on the grounds that there is no evidence to support your proposed usage. That is, that this intense, but incredibly localized, event has any relationship whatsoever to climate change/global warming. In fact from the expert advice I have received, I believe the evidence is to the contrary. Why would you request this footage if you do not have firm evidence to prove that this particular event was caused by, or was in any way attributable to, global or even regional climate change? If a project is bold enough to call itself "Climate Reality," then I would reasonably expect a great deal of fact and reality attached to it. I believe viewers all over the world would expect the same. If I tune into your special event "24 hours of reality" on November 14 and 15, how will I know which event you present is really factual and directly attributable, and which is not? Dare I say, what will be truth and what won't be? How will anyone watching know? Are all your requests for visual material to support climate change presentations made without any prior requirement for supporting evidence?"

Gore fooled us once with his computer-generated fakery. Now he's after the "real thing," except the real thing has absolutely nothing to do with global warming or climate change.

That’s the type of thinking that marks much of modern environmentalism. Environmentalists believe their “solutions” have no consequences other than the intended one of saving the Earth.

But no matter what villain or shibboleth is threatening to destroy the Earth in environmentalists’ minds, they seem to unfailingly come up with an answer that winds up being more damaging than the ill they are trying to cure.

The amount of potential harm environmentalists can cause goes up with the scale of the fantasized disaster.

The ultimate disaster scenario in the liberal book of fairy tales is global warming. We’re living in the economic suffering brought about by leaders who have restricted oil development, fenced off open lands, raised power rates, limited agriculture and rationed housing. The grand plan known as Agenda 21 is a big part of our ongoing economic crisis, all in the name of “sustainability.”

“If the Obama administration and all these environmentalists really care about the environment and want a cleaner planet, and if they really believe emissions and exhausts from our factories are what’s causing global warming–why would they encourage even one of our oil or mining companies to move overseas?”

In a nutshell, why would any alleged “environmentalist” or “progressive” want to allow something as clean as a U.S. company to move to an unregulated, unchecked, “dirty” place overseas?

“You would think that these environmentalists would beg our companies to stay here in America where we provide the cleanest, most efficient energy on the planet!” But they’re not only chasing our companies away, they’re actually funding drilling and mining in other countries where they have relatively zero regulations compared to that of the US.”

The BLS defines green jobs as: “Goods and services produced by an establishment that benefit the environment or conserve natural resources. Green goods and services fall into one or more of the following five groups: (1) production of energy from renewable sources; (2) energy efficiency; (3) pollution reduction and removal, greenhouse gas reduction, and recycling and reuse; (4) natural resources conservation; and (5) environmental compliance, education and training, and public awareness.” If you notice, the BLS definition of green jobs is so broad that it includes garbage collectors and port-a-potty cleaners. It’s also interesting to note that very few of the BLS green jobs are the ones that the Obama administration has thrown billions of dollars of incentives and loans towards.

The following jobs that are considered to be green jobs by the Bureau of Labor Statistics will surprise many of you as it did me:

Engineering services (100,847 green jobs)

Architectural services (71,891 green jobs)

Merchandise stores (106,865 green jobs)

Waste collection (116,293green jobs)

School and employee bus transportation (160,896 green jobs)

Sen. James Inhofe (R., Okla.) announced an investigation into the Environmental Protection Agency on the floor of the Senate Wednesday in light of a recently discovered video of an EPA administrator describing how the EPA occasionally “crucifies” oil and natural gas companies.

The video shows a 2010 speech by Obama-appointed EPA Administrator Al Armendariz. Armendariz compares the EPA’s enforcement strategy against oil and natural gas companies to that of the Roman Empire.

With one coal plant after another beginning to shut down, has anyone asked who will fill the void in the grid when the economy does come back?  With a rebounded economy and the old reliable coal plants in mothballs, won’t we reach a tipping point where demand will force electric rates to “skyrocket”?

National coal exports to China doubled from 2010 to 2011. While this may be good for the mining industry, it doesn’t do a thing for American utility companies who are being rabbit punched by the Federal fist of regulation on one hand, while receiving a roundhouse of decreased electricity demand with the other.

It would seem that US energy policy in the year 2012 goes something like this: First, we panic over the non-threat of catastrophic man-made global warming. As a result we drastically increase regulations on reliable, cheap, coal-generated power to make it less reliable and less cheap.

Second, we propose a solution that under the best of conditions can only produce a fraction of our energy needs and even that at a greatly increased cost. Then we build the infrastructure for said system and force the rest of the market to purchase the more expensive power for which there is no demand. This not only results in increasing costs to the consumer. It also forces the cheaper coal plants to back down their generation, harming their plants physically and their bottom line economically.

Third, through both regulation and these convoluted economics, we severely limit the ability of our nation to benefit from one of our most abundant natural resources and cede the advantages of that natural resource to China. This decision allows China to have abundant access to the $.06 power mentioned above while simultaneously allowing them to preserve their own coal deposits for a rainy day.

Finally, the last I heard, we are a debtor nation and as already mentioned China may hold as much as half of our foreign debt. So could we possibly be paying interest to China on the windmills that will provide us with more expensive, less reliable power?

Who knows? With an energy policy like this, by the time China has to seriously tap into their own coal reserves our economy will be so damaged enough that we mightn’t need our coal anyway.

The EPA's recent move toward strangling the coal-fired electricity generating plants in America is another power grab by the "greenies" in the US government.  If not stopped by the Congress these new regulations will close and shutter dozens of coal-fired plants around the country and thousands upon thousands of workers in the electricity generating business, and businesses associated with them, will be out of a job.

We are looking at a shortage of electricity in America if Congress does not vacate these regulations.  Rolling blackouts will be common here (in America) as they already are in developing countries. 

Solar panels are great for powering driveway lights and small weather stations and such.  But to power a single city, like New York or Los Angles, you'd need an area larger than the size of Nebraska with nothing but solar panels twinkling at the sky. 

Windmills are a joke.  Unfortunately they are a lethal joke to the thousands of birds slaughtered by those whirling blades every year.  Today's windmills stand as much as two hundred to three hundred feet tall and their blades span as much as three hundred feet across.  They are monsters.

The Environmental Protection Agency has become a rogue agency.  It is power hungry and it has an agenda.  That agenda is based on a lie and a hoax, but it makes little difference because the EPA has the power to FORCE Americans to abide by the will of the EPA or be destroyed.  There is another agenda, akin to a "back story" to the pubic agenda of the EPA and that is the furtherance of socialism in America.

Most people have no idea that the United Nations has been drafting an environmental constitution for the world that is intended to supersede all existing national laws.  This document has a working title of "Draft International Covenant on Environment and Development" and you can read the entire thing right here.  Work on this proposed world environmental constitution has been going on since 1995, and the fourth edition was issued to UN member states on September 22nd, 2010.  This document is intended to become a permanent binding treaty and it would establish an incredibly repressive system of global governance. 

This "covenant", as it is being called, claims authority over the entire global environment and everything that affects it.  Considering the fact that everything that we do affects the environment in some way, that would mean that this document would become the highest form of law for all human activity.  This proposed UN environmental constitution for the world is incredibly detailed.  The U.S. Constitution only has 7 articles, but the UN document has 79 articles.  If the U.S. eventually ratifies this treaty, any national, state or local laws that conflict with this covenant will be null and void.  This is potentially one of the greatest threats to our national sovereignty that we have ever seen and we need to warn the American people about it.

Essentially what this proposed environmental covenant does is it takes the sustainable development principles underlying Agenda 21 and turns them into global constitutional law.

All parties to this new constitution would be forced to turn their nations into centrally-planned societies where all decisions about everything are evaluated within the framework of sustainable development.

In his campaign speech on February 23^rd, 2012, Obama blamed everyone but himself for the rise in fuel prices, stating that there were international pressures on the price of oil that are beyond his control. He went on to criticize Republicans for saying that the solution was to drill, drill, drill – saying instead that the answer was to use algae as a source of fuel. Amazingly, he then boasted that under his administration domestic oil and gas production has increased; but as the Heritage Foundation reported on January 18^th, 2012, “Under Obama, Oil and Gas Production on Federal Lands is Down 40%.” There has been an increase in production on private land, but if Obama’s EPA has its way, energy production won’t be happening there either.

On February 5^th of 2009, Interior Secretary Ken Salazar canceled oil and gas leases on 77 parcels of federal land, and then on the 26^th, he canceled all oil shale development in Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming – claiming that the “new” process of extracting oil and gas, called hydrofracking needed to be studied before it can be used.

He placed a moratorium on off-shore drilling, driving companies like Sea Hawk Oil into bankruptcy, while subsidizing oil companies in Brazil. On February 17^th 2012, Obama raised the Royalties on Oil Companies by 50% and his new budget proposes to tax all oil and coal production out of existence.

A point that needs to be made is that destroying the energy sector doesn’t just increase the price of fuel; it destroys our ability to produce fertilizers and insecticides, affecting a decrease in crop yields.  America is an industrialized country and we use energy to sow, irrigate, harvest, transport, and process food. Without energy, most of the people you know will starve, suffer heat stroke, or freeze to death.

The question is why has environmentalism become the force it is today; and what do we do about it?
