The problem is that politicians think they must justify their existence by passing more and more useless, oppressive Laws....Laws that THEY do not have to abide by.

Example: The Wall Street "Insider Law" that politicians scoffed at for years, while they became Millionaires by taking advantage of "Insider Information" they were privy to.

Any of us would have gone to prison for using Insider Information the way politicians have done for decades!

You add all this together and it should be pretty clear that the Democratic Party as a whole cares nothing for your children or for family values, for moral values, for religious values or even for the sanctity of life.

GOVERNMENT AGAINST THE PEOPLE (USING FORCE)

If there is a single feature distinguishing the left from the rest of civil society, it is the willingness to use force.   While claiming to be for the people, the statists consistently use force against others.  The use of force and disrespect for the property of others by the Wisconsin union mobs and the occupy-wall-street crowd are in sharp contrast with respectful and peaceful Tea Party demonstrations.  Indeed, civil society proponents like the Tea Party oppose the use of force -- for example, when they advocate for reducing the size and intrusiveness of government or for repealing Obamacare.


The goals of the left can be implemented only by using force.  The centerpiece of leftist politics, redistribution of wealth, requires taking by force from those who have.  Proponents of higher taxes for "the wealthy" never advocate voluntary contributions; instead, they go for the full power of the federal government, including the threat of jail.  Government control of health care (Obamacare) forces everyone to purchase insurance, forces the states to comply, forces employers to offer coverage, and dictates what kind of policies insurance companies can offer. 

The lessons of history are clear and numerous.  The use of force to create an idealistic society inevitably leads to tyranny and even mass murder.  Stalin alone is credited with the murder of between 20 and 40 million of his own countrymen "for the people."  Pol Pot, who said, "To destroy you is no loss," was responsible for more than 1.7 million deaths.  More than 45 million never leaped with Mao's "Great Leap Forward."  R.J. Rummel estimates the total murders by governments in the 20^th century at 169 million.  Mr. Rummel says this about government's growth of power and willingness to use force:

As a government's power is more unrestrained, as its power reaches into all the corners of culture and society, and as it is less democratic, then the more likely it is to kill its own citizens. There is more than a correlation here. As totalitarian power increases, democide multiplies until it curves sharply upward when totalitarianism is near absolute. As a governing elite has the power to do whatever it wants, whether to satisfy its most personal desires, to pursue what it believes is right and true, it may do so whatever the cost in lives. In this case power is the necessary condition for mass murder. Once an elite have it, other causes and conditions can operate to bring about the immediate genocide, terrorism, massacres, or whatever killing an elite feels is warranted.

Not only does the left try to force us, but the left also expects us to shut up and accept the use of force against us.  To complain about the government's "boot on our throats" is to be called "uncivil."  To defend our culture or even our borders is to be called "racist."  To oppose 2,000-plus-page laws in the halls of Congress is to be called "partisan."  To stand for the Constitution is to be called "radical."

Little does Barack Obama understand that he has forever branded himself as an incompetent and failure.  His narcissism and lifelong history of receiving public adulation will not allow him to comprehend the damage.  He does not understand that now few will listen to his speeches, no matter how well delivered; that few will believe what he is saying, as he has lied and obfuscated the facts so often.  Many world leaders have already arrived at the conclusion that Barack Obama is a leader that cannot be trusted, the citizens of the United States are beginning to  understand that he is a man without a core set of principles thus incapable of guiding the ship of state.

The Obama Presidency is over.  He has abdicated all responsibility to the Congress, in particular the House of Representatives, which has little choice but to assume a role they are not structured to do: lead the country as best they can until November 2012.  The American people, suffering under the burden of high joblessness, eroding housing values, inflation and dramatically declining economic growth with no prospect of any immediate relief, are increasingly resigned to the fact that they must focus on surviving as best they can until the election.

Right Side News -- 6/20/2011 -- Long article that explains how environmentalists move their agenda forward without considering the consequences.  And they really don't save the environment.

Resource shortages are a major cause of conflict. And environmentalists have dedicated themselves to creating resource shortages in prosperous nations. Their campaigns against nuclear, domestic oil and coal production have been big on self-righteousness and short on consequences. And the consequences are that their scaremongering has not only cost millions of American jobs, it has forced us to keep sending money to Muslim oil states who use that money for domestic repression and international terrorism.

Environmentalists who agitate against pollution caused by foreign companies in the Third World need to take a long hard look in the mirror. In many cases it was their own campaigns which drove American companies into countries where they wouldn't be so tightly regulated. Rather than apply reasonable regulations, they made it their goal to wipe out entire industries. They didn't get their wish. Rather those industries moved abroad to places where there were no regulations at all. And the resulting misery that caused lies at their doorstep.

Like every tyrannical ideology it knows only one solution to every problem, more laws, more chains, more investigations and prison cells for anyone who disobeys.

The numbers are staggering.  According to a Census Bureau report for the first quarter of 2009, of a little more than 300 million Americans, nearly 139 million -- or 46.2% of us -- were receiving benefits from one or more federal programs.  The largest programs are familiar ones: Social Security (46,509,000), Medicaid (70,818,000), Medicare (42,566,000) and the Food Stamp program (36,096,000).

The United State tax code exceeds seventy thousand pages.  Many thousands of deals for special interests and constituencies are written into it.  Ironically, in order to take advantage of available tax breaks, individuals and businesses spend unimaginable amounts of time and money to properly prepare their returns.

I am an ER doc in a large suburban hospital. Over my 20 years of practice, I have watched the welfare roles grow to twice what  they were when I started. More troubling is how attitudes of the dependent have changed. Where once people were thankful for short-term help, they now seek to find every possible penny they can find, and now services are demanded: thank-yous are few and far between. It's so bad now, for example, that I recently had a Medicaid patient come in at 0200 by ambulance- for a pregnancy test...when I asked  her why, she told me she didn't want to waste her gas, and she knew the ambulance and the ER couldn't refuse her. It's getting to be almost too much for me sometimes. I've talked to Congressmen and Senators about the abuse, and they are always "woking on it". Meanwhile, we have a patient who has been to the ER 1300 times since 2003 !! When I call the Medicaid office, they tell me there's nothing they can do. I'm convinced that the system is going to have to crash, and I'm really frightened about the people that believe it's their right to have others...

And as we have pointed out, there are of late many new regulators ensconced in Washington.  Which, as the Phoenix Center report states, is an expensive expansion of busybodiness.

(E)ach million dollar increase in the regulatory budget costs the economy 420 private sector jobs.

Thankfully, the Center has the simple cure – cut back on the regulatory bureaucrats.

On average, eliminating the job of a single regulator grows the American economy by $6.2 million and 98 private sector jobs annually.
