YOUR SELFIE BECOMES YOUR NSA MUGSHOT

Snowden documents reveal how the NSA turns your selfie into a mugshot
Freedom Outpost – Susanne Posei – 6/9/2014

Media is reporting that documents provided by Edward Snowden show the National Security Agency (NSA) are in the process of collecting “millions of images intercepted from global communications for a facial-recognition programs to identify and track intelligence targets.”

These images are being siphoned from “emails, text messages, social media, videoconferences, and other communications.”

The Next Generation Identification (NGI) program has been using a massive biometric database which is slated to replace Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System (IAFIS) which collaborates with “state of the art biometric identification services”.

The EFF explains that the NGI “builds on the FBI’s legacy fingerprint database—which already contains well over 100 million individual records—and has been designed to include multiple forms of biometric data, including palm prints and iris scans in addition to fingerprints and face recognition data. NGI combines all these forms of data in each individual’s file, linking them to personal and biographic data like name, home address, ID number, immigration status, age, race, etc. This immense database is shared with other federal agencies and with the approximately 18,000 tribal, state and local law enforcement agencies across the United States.”

DO YOU TRUST GOVERNMENT WITH YOUR PERSONAL INFO?

Growing backlash to government surveillance
Breitbart - MARTHA MENDOZA – 10/11/2013

From Silicon Valley to the South Pacific, counterattacks to revelations of widespread National Security Agency surveillance are taking shape, from a surge of new encrypted email programs to technology that sprinkles the Internet with red flag terms to confuse would-be snoops.

Policy makers, privacy advocates and political leaders around the world have been outraged at the near weekly disclosures from former intelligence contractor Edward Snowden that expose sweeping U.S. government surveillance programs.

"Until this summer, people didn't know anything about the NSA," said Center for International Security and Cooperation at Stanford University co-director Amy Zegart. "Their own secrecy has come back to bite them."

This week, researchers at Carnegie Mellon University released a smartphone app called SafeSlinger they say encrypts text messages so they cannot be read by cell carriers, Internet providers, employers "or anyone else."

CryptoParties are springing up around the world as well. They are small gatherings where hosts teach attendees, who bring their digital devices, how to download and use encrypted email and secure Internet browsers.

NSA – WILL SOMEONE CLAIM “I DIDN’T KNOW!” ??

NSA spying flap extends to contents of U.S. Phone Calls
News.CNET –  Declan McCullagh – 6/15/2013

This is a long article – click to read the entire post.

National Security Agency discloses in secret Capitol Hill briefing that thousands of analysts can listen to domestic phone calls. That authorization appears to extend to e-mail and text messages too.

The National Security Agency has acknowledged in a new classified briefing that it does not need court authorization to listen to domestic phone calls, a participant said.

Rep. Jerrold Nadler, a New York Democrat, disclosed on Thursday that during a secret briefing to members of Congress, he was told that the contents of a phone call could be accessed "simply based on an analyst deciding that."
If the NSA wants "to listen to the phone," an analyst's decision is sufficient, without any other legal authorization required, Nadler said he learned. "I was rather startled," said Nadler, an attorney and congressman who serves on the House Judiciary committee.

Not only does this disclosure shed more light on how the NSA's formidable eavesdropping apparatus works domestically, it also suggests the Justice Department has secretly interpreted federal surveillance law to permit thousands of low-ranking analysts to eavesdrop on phone calls.

The Washington Post disclosed Saturday that the existence of a top-secret NSA program called NUCLEON, which "intercepts telephone calls and routes the spoken words" to a database. Top intelligence officials in the Obama administration, the Post said, "have resolutely refused to offer an estimate of the number of Americans whose calls or e-mails have thus made their way into content databases such as NUCLEON."

Earlier reports have indicated that the NSA has the ability to record nearly all domestic and international phone calls -- in case an analyst needed to access the recordings in the future. A Wired magazine article last year disclosed that the NSA has established "listening posts" that allow the agency to collect and sift through billions of phone calls through a massive new data center in Utah, "whether they originate within the country or overseas." That includes not just metadata, but also the contents of the communications.

William Binney, a former NSA technical director who helped to modernize the agency's worldwide eavesdropping network, told the Daily Caller this week that the NSA records the phone calls of 500,000 to 1 million people who are on its so-called target list, and perhaps even more. "They look through these phone numbers and they target those and that's what they record," Binney said.

READER COMMENT:  Nobody in the Obama administration seems to know anything.  Perhaps Obama could form a new cabinet position:
"Someone in Charge of Knowing Something".

BIG GOVERNMENT – WHO IS REALLY IN CHARGE?

AND CAN YOU TRUST GOVERNMENT?  WHO IS TELLING US THE TRUTH?

Oh yes, they are listening to our phone calls, Barry
American Thinker – Rick Moran – 6/16/2013

Shocking revelation from Capitol Hill where it was revealed at a Judiciary Committee hearing that the NSA can listen to the content of domestic phone calls of American citizens without a warrant. Further, the decision to listen to those calls can be made by a low level analyst.

The National Security Agency has acknowledged in a new classified briefing that it does not need court authorization to listen to domestic phone calls.
Rep. Jerrold Nadler, a New York Democrat, disclosed this week that during a secret briefing to members of Congress, he was told that the contents of a phone call could be accessed "simply based on an analyst deciding that."

Because the same legal standards that apply to phone calls also apply to e-mail messages, text messages, and instant messages, Nadler's disclosure indicates the NSA analysts could also access the contents of Internet communications without going before a court and seeking approval. The government is out of control and it's an open question whether enough can be done to salvage our constitutional liberties.

MAXINE WATERS: WAS SHE REFERRING TO NSA DATA?

Did Obama build super Democrat database using the NSA?
Godfather Politics – Gary DeMar – 6/13/2013

Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA):  Consider this from an interview she had with Roland Martin in February:

“The President has put in place an organization with the kind of database that no one has ever seen before in life.

“That’s going to be very, very powerful. That database will have information about everything on every individual on ways that it’s never been done before and whoever runs for President on the Democratic ticket has to deal with that. They’re going to go down with that database and the concerns of those people because they can’t get around it. And he’s [President Obama] been very smart. It’s very powerful what he’s leaving in place.”

OBAMA, GOOGLE AND MICROSOFT – BIG BROTHERS

Tech Giants:  We didn’t know
Breitbart Big Government - Wynton Hall – 6/7/2013

On Thursday, Americans learned that since 2007 the National Security Agency (NSA) has operated a top-secret program called PRISM that vacuums up the actual contents--not just so-called metadata, as with the National Security Agency’s phone record collections--of emails, video and voice chat, photos, Skype calls, web chats, videos, file transfers, and social networking communications.

PRISM circumnavigates the need for court orders and allows the NSA to directly tap and mine data from America’s biggest technology companies like Google, Apple, Facebook, and others.

“They quite literally can watch your ideas form as you type,” one career intelligence officer told the Washington Post.

PRISM began under President George W. Bush but according to the Post, under President Obama PRISM has enjoyed “exponential growth."

In 2012, Google executive chairman Eric Schmidt recruited, coached, and strategized technology for the Obama campaign. Businessweek says Schmidt is now “investing millions to fund a consulting firm for businesses staffed by Obama’s former data analytics team.”

Indeed, this week the White House held another of its “We the Geeks” White House Google+ Hangouts series to “highlight the future of science, technology, and innovation here in the United States.”

Microsoft and Google bag millions selling their products and contracting their services to the government. Consider, for example, just one government agency like the Department of Interior. In May 2012, Google scored a $35 million contract for the agency’s “Google Apps for Government” program. In 2010, Microsoft was awarded a $59.3 million contract to run Interior’s email and collaboration systems.

Obama and Big Data have aligned to strike crony deals that grow government and profits.
