The Big Brother control grid is constantly growing and expanding all over America. Right now, a “wireless mesh network” is in the process of being installed in Seattle that some believe will ultimately have the capability of tracking the location of every wireless device in the city. If you live in downtown Seattle, just look for the little off-white boxes that are being attached to utility poles all over the place. You can see a bunch of pictures of these little boxes right here. Meanwhile, other major U.S. cities have been installing vast networks of surveillance cameras and listening devices. We are being told that such measures will help police “solve more crime”. We are being told that such measures will “keep people safe”. But what about our privacy? Doesn’t that count for something? What about the Fourth Amendment? Are our most cherished liberties and freedoms going to be thrown into the trash just because we live “in a more dangerous world”?

The question is: How well can this mesh network see you?

How accurately can it geo-locate and track the movements of your phone, laptop, or any other wireless device by its MAC address (its “media access control address”—nothing to do with Macintosh—which is analogous to a device’s thumbprint)? Can the network send that information to a database, allowing the SPD to reconstruct who was where at any given time, on any given day, without a warrant? Can the network see you now?

But the newspaper did find some technical experts that actually work with Aruba products that were willing to talk…

After reviewing Aruba’s technical literature, as well as talking to IT directors and systems administrators around the country who work with Aruba products, it’s clear that their networks are adept at seeing all the devices that move through their coverage area and visually mapping the locations of those devices in real time for the system administrators’ convenience. In fact, one of Aruba’s major selling points is its ability to locate “rogue” or “unassociated” devices—that is, any device that hasn’t been authorized by (and maybe hasn’t even asked to be part of) the network.

Which is to say, your device. The cell phone in your pocket, for instance.

The user’s guide for one of Aruba’s recent software products states: “The wireless network has a wealth of information about unassociated and associated devices.” That software includes “a location engine that calculates associated and unassociated device location every 30 seconds by default… The last 1,000 historical locations are stored for each MAC address.”

The definition of treason, according to the Legal Dictionary, is “the betrayal of one’s own country by waging war against it or by consciously or purposely acting to aid its enemies.”

Al-Qaeda is our enemy. It has always considered itself such, and on 9-11, we finally realized it too.

Why then is President Obama siding with the al-Qaeda-led “rebels” in Syria?

Obama has forgotten, or possibly never cared, about the victims of 9-11.  In May of this year he declared the War on Terror was over and al-Qaeda was “on a path” to defeat.

Yet, here we are, providing aid and comfort to our sworn enemies and standing on the verge of doing their dirty work by getting rid of Syria’s current government.

It’s a betrayal of the memories of those murdered on 9-11, and it meets the definition of treason by aiding our enemies. Yet Obama remains in office. His flunkies, too, remain in office.

The War on Terror was about seeking justice. Where’s the justice now?

In a poignant summary of her opinion that U.S. involvement is necessary, the congresswoman said the following:

It is an unimaginable tragedy and utter injustice that hundreds of Syrian children appear to have died at the hands of the man who is designated to look out for their welfare. Wasserman Shultz overlooked fundamental flaw in her argument when she observed America’s moral responsibility to respond: Wasserman Shultz has spent her career ensuring that chemical and other forms of death continue to be protected by law and carried out on the babies in her own country.

Wasserman Schultz, like any compassionate human being, is appalled by the use of chemical weapons on children. But she has created a false dichotomy by working to ensure that American babies can be killed by the chemical weapon of a saline abortion, in which a woman’s uterus is filled with a saline solution that eats away at the inside and outside of the baby until it is burned to death in utero.

Wasserman Schultz also works to ensure that other babies can be killed by the RU-486 chemical abortion, in which the mother ingests a pill that cuts off her baby’s food supply and starves it to death, before ingesting another pill that makes her uterus contract to expel the dead baby into toilet water, to be flushed out of existence. No one gently dresses these fatally-wounded children in white shrouds, lining them up that we may see and mourn for them, and honor their lives. They are flushed, tossed, and ground out of existence.

Several members of Congress joined representatives of the special forces military veterans and grassroots organizations on Tuesday to launch an effort to force the House to have a thorough, public investigation into the terrorist attack at Benghazi, Libya, on Sept. 11, 2012.

Rep. Frank Wolf (R-VA) has introduced legislation to create a special select committee to investigate both the terrorist attack and subsequent actions by President Barack Obama’s administration and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s State Department. Wolf's bill has 161 co-sponsors. House GOP Leadership has not scheduled a vote on the bill. 

Rep. Steve Stockman (R-TX) plans to harness the support for Wolf's bill into a "discharge petition" that would force a floor vote on the bill. The petition would need to be signed by 218 members of the House. 

“I’m going to describe what a discharge petition is because a lot of people have asked me questions exactly what it is,” Stockman said at the Tuesday press conference outside the U.S. Capitol building. “It’s to ask our leadership or actually demand from our leadership that we have a vote on Frank Wolf’s bill. [Wolf is] a congressman from Virginia who has a long history of being here and is articulate in demanding that we have an independent investigation.”

“We can’t be silent any more,” he said. “It’s been a year going by that we haven’t had justice. These folks demand justice. They cry out for justice. Silence is not an option any more. We’re going to challenge them. We’re going to have a discharge petition. I encourage you to contact your congressman to sign the discharge petition.” 

At the press conference, Brauer’s group unrolled an enormous scroll of a petition that includes the signatures of about a thousand special forces veterans joining the call for this investigation. “What you see on my left is a one of a kind. I don’t think it’s ever been done before: a four-foot-by-sixty-foot copy of the Special Operations Speaks petition that we sent to the House of Representatives on the Eighth of April asking for this select committee with subpoena power,” Brauer said. “The scroll is signed by nearly 1,000 special operations veterans, from the rank of Lieutenant General Three Stars down to every other rank you can imagine, Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, all of them passionate about what we’re trying to do.”

Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX), a congressman who supports the discharge petition, said at the press conference that he was asked by a reporter recently about Benghazi: “Gee, that was so long ago. Do we really want to pursue this now?”

“I told the reporter that when I was a judge handling felony cases, I had defendants ask me that question – ‘that was so long ago, do we really need to get into all this now?’ I can tell you when the blood of American patriots cries out, when the blood of individuals who were sent there into harm’s way, knowing how dangerous it was in Benghazi, and especially two former SEALs who were even told to ‘Stand Down’ but they wouldn’t have it,” Gohmert said. “They went to save lives and that’s exactly what they did. They even recruited another State Department man, a former army ranger, to go up there on the rooftop with them. What they knew from the first moment mortars were fired was that this was an organized, well-prepared attack on our people. We need to get to the bottom of it. Their blood cries out for that.”

But today only one person really stands in the way of a full and public investigation of the 9/11 terrorist attack in Benghazi. It’s not President Obama. It’s really not even Hillary Rodham Clinton, or Eric Holder. That one person is none other than House Speaker John Boehner.”

If only every 16-year-old had the courage and grit of Malala Yousafzai, the Pakistani girl who was shot in the head by the Taliban last year for advocating girls' and women's education.

Last Friday, she spoke to the United Nations and said education could change the world, Reuters reported

Malala explained to the U.N.: "They shot my friends, too. They thought that the bullets would silence us. But they failed, and out of that silence came thousands of voices."

She added: "The terrorists thought that they would change my aims and stop my ambitions, but nothing changed in my life except this: Weakness, fear and hopelessness died. Strength, power and courage was born."

Aren't those some riveting truths and, even more, a rallying cry to continue to fight tyranny over the human mind and spirit? When courageous souls are willing to confront strongholds, they can overcome any adversity and change any culture.

Let's remember that she's not fighting a war on terror from without. Her mission is for education, freedom and reform from within. And that's the most potent type of warfare and transformation for individuals and society.

Malala is a wiser warrior than any extremist leader. She knows that the Taliban are afraid of educated women because they know that women's freedom would mean their loss of control and demise. They fear that women will know the truth and the truth will set them free.

In her own words, she said: "The extremists were and they are afraid of books and pens. The power of education frightens them. They are afraid of women. ... We realized the importance of pens and books when we saw the guns."

Jefferson would have concurred with Malala about the power of education. In his 1818 report for the University of Virginia -- which he founded -- he asked: "What but education has advanced us beyond the condition of our indigenous neighbors? And what chains them to their present state of barbarism and wretchedness but a bigoted veneration for the supposed superlative wisdom of their fathers and the preposterous idea that they are to look backward for better things, and not forward, longing, as it should seem, to return to the days of eating acorns and roots, rather than indulge in the degeneracies of civilization?"

He wrote the same year, "If the condition of man is to be progressively ameliorated, as we fondly hope and believe, education is to be the chief instrument in effecting it."

The powers granted in the Patriot Act aided law enforcement officials in uncovering former New York Democratic Gov. Eliot Spitzer’s dalliances with high-class prostitutes, which isn’t exactly a terrorism-related offense. Mark Hosenball explained how in Newsweek magazine in 2008:

The Patriot Act gave the FBI new powers to snoop on suspected terrorists. In the fine print were provisions that gave the Treasury Department authority to demand more information from banks about their customers’ financial transactions. Congress wanted to help the feds identify terrorist money launderers. But Treasury went further. It issued stringent new regulations that required banks themselves to look for unusual transactions (such as odd patterns of cash withdrawals or wire transfers) and submit SARs — Suspicious Activity Reports — to the government. Facing potentially stiff penalties if they didn’t comply, banks and other financial institutions installed sophisticated software to detect anomalies among millions of daily transactions. They began ranking the risk levels of their customers — on a scale of zero to 100 — based on complex formulas that included the credit rating, assets and profession of the account holder. …

The new scrutiny resulted in an explosion of SARs, from 204,915 in 2001 to 1.23 million last year [2007]. The data, stored in an IRS computer in Detroit, are accessible by law-enforcement agencies nationwide. “Terrorism has virtually nothing to do with it,” says Peter Djinis, a former top Treasury lawyer. “The vast majority of SARs filed today involve garden-variety forms of white-collar crime.” Federal prosecutors around the country routinely scour the SARs for potential leads.

Spitzer’s transactions were tagged, which ultimately led to suspicions he was accepting bribes, according to ABC News.

“We had no interest at all in the prostitution ring until the thing with Spitzer led us to learn about it,” a Department of Justice official told ABC News.

The U.S. military perfected capabilities after the embassy bombings in Kenya and Tanzania in 1998, the attack on the USS Cole in Yemen in 2000, the 2008 U.S. Embassy bombing in Yemen, and similar events.  Gates emphasized the need for planning; Commanders in Extremis forces plan constantly for all contingencies.

CIF units answer directly to the general for each regional command to eliminate delay.  Therefore, if AFRICOM -- the U.S. military's regional command for matters involving Africa -- had actually wanted to rescue Ambassador Stevens -- and the classified secrets in the Consulate -- the AFRICOM general would have communicated directly with the CIF team on forward deployment in the region.

Panetta testified that the U.S. military could not react because they didn't know the situation on the ground in Benghazi.  In fact, two unmanned drones were overhead, sending real-time video, including infrared and night-vision cameras, back to the national command authority.  Everyone but Panetta seems to know how dumb Panetta's statement was.

Liberal columnist Maureen Dowd commented: "The defense secretary at the time, Leon Panetta, insisted, 'We quickly responded.' But they responded that they would not respond."  Dowd sums it up: "All the factions wove their own mythologies at the expense of our deepest national mythology: that if there is anything, no matter how unlikely or difficult, that we can do to try to save the lives of Americans who have volunteered for dangerous assignments, we must do it."

BARACK OBAMA – IS HE IRRELEVANT OR RELEVANT?

This weekend we learned that the White House counsel was told this April about the IRS misconduct and the investigations, but she did not inform President Obama. He learned about it from news reports.

What we have here, it appears, is a government out of control and a president clueless about what is going on in that government.

And that is the best case. For it is difficult to believe the IRS could conduct a full-court press on Obama's opponents, that IRS higher-ups knew about it, years ago, and that Treasury knew about it before the election -- but the White House was kept in the dark about a scandal that could have derailed the Obama campaign.

For years, Obama, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and other Democrats have slandered and slurred Tea Party people as enemies of progress -- smears echoed by their mainstream press allies.

Should we then be surprised that IRS bureaucrats, hearing this, thought they were doing what was right for America by slow-walking applications for tax exemptions from these same Tea Party folks?

Who demonized the Tea Party people? Who created the climate of contempt? Whoever did gave moral sanction to those IRS agents.

And the Spectator President is right in the vanguard.

BLOGGER COMMENT:  Barack Obama’s staffer on the Sunday talk shows stated that public knowledge of the President’s whereabouts when Ambassador Stevens was murdered was “irrelevant,” but the President was kept informed by someone.  Does Barack Obama do anything that is “relevant,” or are all affairs at the White House “irrelevant?”

Sharyl Attkisson at CBS has provided an unbelievable report on Benghazi where unnamed Obama administration sources spoke to her in a series of interviews and communications under condition of anonymity. When it comes to the administration being portrayed by Republicans as either “lying or idiots,” one official said “It’s actually closer to us being idiots.”

These officials, who were in key position on September 11, 2012 acknowledged that there were numerous mistakes. However, they also unanimously said that their errors or missteps did not cost lives and reflect “incompetence rather than malice or cover up.”

Now stop and think about that for a moment. They have just admitted to being incompetent. Why then do they still have their jobs in the administration? Second, no call was made to support Americans under attack. While that may not have involved these particular officials, it did involve one Barack Hussein Obama. And failing to provide that support did cost American lives; four of them.

The president and secretary of state of the most powerful nation on Earth are impervious to shame.  They can do -- they have done -- what you hope you could never do, what you pray your children will never be able to do, what psychologists fill academic journals attempting to explain. 

They were informed that their countrymen -- their appointees -- were being attacked, were issuing repeated cries for help, and, if nothing were done to intercede, were likely to be killed.  Knowing this, and knowing, further, that they had at their disposal the most powerful military in the world, no risk of personal harm, and many subordinates prepared to leap into action at their word, they blithely walked away from the desperate men pleading for their help, and carried on with whatever they happened to be doing that night. 

They let other men suffer unto death without lifting a finger to help, or even indicating a moment's regret for their inaction after the fact.

They demonstrated a cold lack of interest in the suffering of others -- not the abstract, theoretical suffering of collective interest groups, such as "the poor" or "gays" or "women," but the real physical pain and mortal terror-style suffering of individual human beings in mortal crisis. 

Progressivism, socialism, Marxism -- call it what you will -- is an authoritarian strategy masked as a political theory.  At its core is the premise that the state has full authority, in the name of "the people," to do any number of things which would have been almost universally recognized, throughout human history, as shameful acts. 

In the name of "equality" and "justice," progressives

• claim the authority to take one man's rightfully earned possessions by force,
• and simply give them to other men;
• to remove children forcibly from their parents,
• and raise them according to precepts that may be antithetical to everything the parents believe;
• to retard the intellectual and moral development of every citizen through an aggressive, coercive program of indoctrination through government schools,
• aimed at producing a submissive underclass of competent but unambitious adults;
• to determine, by edict, who may or may not be permitted to pursue life-preserving medical treatment, and under what conditions that treatment may be provided;
• and so on through the litany of moral violations recast as "services," and even "rights," by collectivist despots and their bureaucratic minions.

Eight months of information is now being unloaded all at once to the conventional media audience.  And those of us who are old enough to remember the good old days of Watergate realize just how confusing these things can be.  So to bring everyone up to speed, I offer the following three levels of explanation.CliffsNotes Summary

On September 11, 2012, a Muslim terrorist group stormed the American embassy outpost in Benghazi, Libya.  Four Americans were killed, including the United States Ambassador to Libya, Chris Stevens.  On the day of the year that radical Islamists are known to celebrate jihad against the United States, the Ambassador was curiously 400 miles away from the fortified American Embassy to Libya in the capital city of Tripoli.

During the eight-hour siege, the only military asset that was afforded to the outpost in Benghazi was a loitering drone that could stream live video back to the Commander-in-chief.  [But no one ever said where President Obama was when the Ambassador and three other Americans were being attacked.]  A special forces team, anxious to respond, was ordered twice to “Stand down.”


CIA Director David Petraeus at first seemed to concur with the California video story.  Soon after, however, his agency published timelines that only supported a planned and effective terrorist attack.  Within weeks, Petraeus resigns over the news of an extramarital affair.  Some rumor that the Administration held this information over Petraeus’ head.  Others contend that Petraeus outed himself and intends to play one more chess move under congressional oath.

The most elaborate conspiracy theory is that Ambassador Stevens was set up to die or get kidnapped.  He was directed by Assistant Secretary of State Beth Jones to work out of the consulate on a flare-up day like September 11.  Only the Secretary of State has the authority to approve occupancy of a consulate like Benghazi that did not meet the legal security standards.

First, that no major questions remain regarding the 9/11 terrorist assault on our consulate in Benghazi, Libya  -- and second, that no new information emerged from the whistle-blowers' hours-long testimony. 

(1) Murdered US Ambassador Chris Stevens' second in command, Gregory Hicks, was instructed not to speak with a Congressional investigator by Sec. Hillary Clinton's chief of staff, Cheryl Mills. 

(2) Assistant Secretary of State Beth Jones instantly reversed course and launched into a "blistering critique" of Hicks' leadership.  He was subsequently "effectively demoted."  Hicks called Rice's talking points "stunning" and "embarrassing."

(3)  Hicks testified that he personally told Sec. Clinton as much at 2 am on the night of the attack, along with her senior staff.  [UPDATE - Rep. Trey Gowdy also revealed an email sent on 9/12 in which Assistant Sec. Jones confirmed to a Libyan official that the attack had been carried out by terrorist organization Ansar al-Sharia].  Days later, Rice recited bogus talking points on five American television networks, and Clinton denounced the video while standing next to the flag-draped coffins of the fallen.  Hicks said there he never mentioned any "spontaneous demonstrations" related to a video in his phone call with Clinton:

Questions: How, why, and by whom did the administration's talking points get scrubbed and re-written?  Why did the president refuse to identify the attack as terrorism in an interview with CBS News on September 12, and why did he allow Sec. Rice to disseminate patently false information on his behalf?

(4) A small, armed US force in Tripoli was told it did not have the authority to deploy to Benghazi in the midst of the attack.  Twice. Flight time between the two cities is less than an hour. Members of the would-be rescue contingent were "furious" over this obstruction.  THE WITNESSES SAID THEY DID NOT KNOW WHO ULTIMATELY GAVE THE "STAND DOWN" ORDERS, OR WHY.  IF IT WAS NOT THE COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF CALLING THE SHOTS, WHY NOT, AND WHERE WAS HE?  Whistle-blower Mark Thompson, a career counter-terrorism official at State, said he called the White House to request the immediate deployment of a Foreign Emergency Support Team (FEST) to Benghazi.  He was told it was "not the right time" to do so, then was cut out of the communications loop.
