THE FENCE

If you ever wondered which side of the fence you sit on, this is a great test!
If a Republican doesn't like guns, he doesn't buy one.
If a Democrat doesn't like guns, he wants all guns outlawed.

If a Republican is a vegetarian, he doesn't eat meat.
If a Democrat is a vegetarian, he wants all meat products banned for everyone.

If a Republican is homosexual, he quietly leads his life.
If a Democrat is homosexual, he demands legislated respect.

If a Republican is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation.
A Democrat wonders who is going to take care of him.

If a Republican doesn't like a talk show host, he switches channels.
Democrat's demand that those they don't like be shut down.

If a Republican is a non-believer, he doesn't go to church.
A Democrat non-believer wants any mention of God and religion silenced.

If a Republican decides he needs health care, he goes about shopping for it, or may choose a job that provides it.
A Democrat demands that the rest of us pay for his.

If a Republican reads this, he'll forward it so his friends can have a good laugh.
A Democrat will delete it because he's "offended".

  1. If you ever wondered which side of the fence you sit on, this is a great test!
    >> I took the test and am confused because I consider myself to be a Democrat yet not a single one of these descriptions applies to me.

If a Republican doesn't like guns, he doesn't buy one.
If a Democrat doesn't like guns, he wants all guns outlawed.
    >> Most Democrats do not want to outlaw guns, although we do believe that a reasonable discussion is warranted on limitations and restrictions of the purchase of guns and ammunition, especially in relatively unregulated places like gun shows and the Internet.

If a Republican is a vegetarian, he doesn't eat meat.
If a Democrat is a vegetarian, he wants all meat products banned for everyone.
    >> Most vegetarian Democrats I know (I am not one) do not want meat banned but do want to educate people about its harmful health and environmental effects, which is why I minimize my intake of it.

If a Republican is homosexual, he quietly leads his life.
If a Democrat is homosexual, he demands legislated respect.
    >> Most Democrats want homosexual couples afforded the same basic civil and legal rights as heterosexual couples, including marriage, and nothing more.

If a Republican is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation.
A Democrat wonders who is going to take care of him.
    >> No, it was a Democrat who reformed welfare to provide help while charting a path back to work. This same Democrat, along with every fact-checking organization, including the one you like, Politifact, have pointed out that it is a "pants on fire" lie to suggest that the current Democratic president is trying to decrease the work requirements for welfare. Republicans look to their government for help just as much as Democrats when things happen beyond their control, such as drought, floods, and the like.

If a Republican doesn't like a talk show host, he switches channels.
Democrat's demand that those they don't like be shut down.
    >> No, Democrats do not shut down talk show hosts. They may try to correct their lies or call for boycotting their advertisers, but Republicans do that too.

If a Republican is a non-believer, he doesn't go to church.
A Democrat non-believer wants any mention of God and religion silenced.
    >> No, Democrats value the sanctity of the first amendment that separates religion and government. Republicans are actually the ones who have tried to silence religion by trying to shut down mosques around the country.

If a Republican decides he needs health care, he goes about shopping for it, or may choose a job that provides it.
A Democrat demands that the rest of us pay for his.
    >> Most Democrats support the conservative-originated and Romney-implemented idea of requiring everyone to purchase health insurance so that those who need health care do not wait until they are sick to buy insurance, which also spreads the insurance risk. But no responsible Democrat is advocating making health care "free." In fact, it seems like the Republican candidates are doing this, spending this past weekend touting their support for a single-payer socialized medicine system known as Medicare, and accusing the President (falsely) of cutting benefits for the socialized medicine program.

If a Republican reads this, he'll forward it so his friends can have a good laugh.

    >> Most Democrats would not delete this because it is such a good example of how Republicans distort the truth. Most Democrats are also technology-savvy enough to know that one cannot delete another person's Blogspot posting.
