FINALLY, A DEBATE ABOUT THE SECOND AMENDMENT

‘How dare you’:  Conservative author confronts Piers Morgan on exploiting Newtown, Hands him a Constitution in tense interview
The Blaze – 1/11/2013 – Ben Shapiro debates Piers Morgan on CNN

14-minute video

Conservative author and Breitbart editor-at-large Ben Shapiro on Thursday accused CNN’s Piers Morgan of “standing on the graves of the children” who died in Newtown, Conn. in his opposition to guns.

“Honestly Piers, you’ve kind of been a bully on this issue,” Shapiro said on “Piers Morgan Tonight.” “You tend to demonize people who differ from you politically by standing on the graves of the children of Sandy Hook, saying they don’t seem to care enough about the dead kids, if they cared more about the dead kids they would agree with you on policy.”

READER COMMENT:  Wow, Shapiro owned him. I only wish that he hadn’t let Piers put him in a position where he felt obligated to explain why people would need an “assault weapon.” While his response was a good one, it’s really none of Piers’ or the government’s business why we might “need” an assault weapon. That is irrelevant. The government shouldn’t be able to ban something just because of a perceived lack of need for it. Do you need a fancy watch to tell time? No. Does that mean the government should be able to ban them? Absolutely not.

READER COMMENT:  I agree with your statement ask why do people need sports cars that go 120 mph when the national speed limit is 65-75MPH throughout MOST of the country, but I also would have asked Pierce what about the people living on the Mexican border who need protection from the drug lords armed with AK47 supplied by Obama’s justice department? Should they be limited to defend themselves with hand guns? How about the Koreans defending their property against the mobs after the Rodney King beating should they have been limited to handgun against hundreds of people? The reasons may be limited but they do exist in this day and age and as you stated WE THE PEOPLE are not required to defend the need for everything we buy you can’t take away my right because someone else has disobeyed the law, WHAT HAPPENED TO DUE PROCESS?

READER COMMENT:  Piers stated it was against the law for him to purchase 6 boxes of Sudafed yet there he sat with 6 boxes of Sudafed. There has never been a more perfect illustration on why banning something will not prevent people from acquiring it if they want to! So banning “assault” rifles will not prevent people who want them from acquiring them.
Shapiro is a great debater.

READER COMMENT:  You posted what I wanted to write! Border safety!!!!!!!!! I know citizens living very close to the Mexican border. They are of Mexican heritage and they are armed to protect themselves from the illegals crossing into our/their country! They don’t feel safe at night in their own homes in Texas!! Great scott…
