NORTHWOODS PATRIOTS MONTHLY MEETING

Tuesday, June 11, 2013 - 6:30 p.m.
Eagle River Inn - Eagle River, WI

What are Common Core Standards?  Have you even heard about Common Core Standards?
Are you are a parent, a grandparent or a taxpayer?  Are you a teacher or a student?
All citizens should know about these standards that are being implemented across the state.

In Madison last Thursday, the Joint Finance Committee adopted a motion to pause implementation of CCSS until further investigation and reporting can be accomplished.   This was in response to a growing amount of concern from grassroots groups and citizens who are learning about Common Core standards for the first time.

The Northwood’s Patriots have been in the lead along with other state groups to alert state legislators to the concerns of the little known standards. We are concerned that these standards were adopted and put into motion without any cost estimates, any performance data and no public input regarding public education available for Wisconsin children.   Many people including a large percentage of Wisconsin legislators knew nothing about Common Core standards until January of 2013.

The Northwood’s Patriot meeting will focus on just what Common Core Standards are and how they are already been implemented in local school districts.  Included will be information on the Common Core Data Mining component and your child's privacy. An informational video will be viewed.

Additional information can be obtained at www.stopcommoncoreinwisconsin.com

Further information contact Kim Simac 715-891-3207 or visit Northwood’s Patriots - www.northwoodspatriots.blogspot.com

When will YOU get involved?  Lady Liberty is calling.  After SHE has given YOU so very much will you answer her call? That is the question.

Legislators in Washington are working to defund the Common Core standards at the Department of Education:
Senator Chuck Grassley – Iowa – Senators work to stop federal interference and restore state-level education decisions – 4/29/2013 - http://www.grassley.senate.gov/news/Article.cfm?customel_dataPageID_1502=45715

Representative Luetkemeyer – Missouri – Education Department circumvents Congress – 5/3/2013 -
