DOES PRESIDENT OBAMA ATTEND D-DAY MONUMENT?

SodaHead – Opinions – 6/30/2012
In all the years since D-Day, there are three occasions when the U.S. President failed to go to the D-Day Monument that honors the soldiers killed during the Invasion.

The occasions were:

1. Barack Obama 2010

2. Barack Obama 2011

3. Barack Obama 2012

For the past 68 years, all presidents, except Obama, have paid tribute to the fallen soldiers killed on D-Day. This year, instead of honoring the soldiers, he made a campaign trip on Air Force 1 to California to raise funds for the upcoming election

  1. Obama commemorations similar to Bush's

Obama delivered speech at Normandy for D-Day 65th anniversary in 2009. President Obama traveled to Normandy for a June 6, 2009 ceremony honoring the 65th anniversary of D-Day. He delivered a speech honoring the troops, saying in part, that victory "came down to the men who landed here - those who now rest in this place for eternity, and those who are with us today. Perhaps more than any other reason, you, the veterans of that landing, are why we still remember what happened on D-Day. You are why we come back."

Bush administration commemorated D-Day in 2001 and 2004, but spent others in meetings and at least one concert. White House archives of June 6 for each year President Bush was in office only show Bush commemorating D-Day in 2001 and 2004. In 2001, Bush dedicated a D-Day memorial in Virginia, and in 2004, he went to Normandy to mark the 60th anniversary of D-Day. There are no "news" references to D-Day in 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007, or 2008.

On 2005 D-Day anniversary, Bush hosted a concert celebrating Black Music Month and did not recognize the holiday. While Hoft and Fox criticized Obama for attending a "party" instead of recognizing the anniversary of D-Day, on June 6, 2005, Bush held a concert at the White House celebrating Black Music Month. According to the White House archives, Bush also did not commemorate the D-Day anniversary.

    1. This article is total BULLSHIT! President Barak Obama attended the 65 anniversary at the site of D-Day in Normandy France in 2009. And in 2009, 2010, 2011, and this year has , not only visited but laid wreaths at various memorials around this country honoring the fallen solders from D-Day. You lying a-holes will say anything thats not true just to trash this man. That borders on treason and you say your good americans? I fought in Viet nam, my father and uncles fought in ww11. I lost two close friends in Viet Nam. All of us, as many others fought to secure our freedoms and defend our constitution. Only to have you right wing radicals supressing and disinfranchising legal american voters, just to get your way. Your all a disgrace, and no better than the terrorist were fighting now, who want the same goals as you. You would'nt know the truth if it bit you on the ass. I used to be a registered republican, until this year. I will not be associated with or vote for this unamerican party ever.

    2. While the urban legend may not be true, it is based on the fact that Obama continually disrespects our citizens and particularly the servicemen and women. My Dad served in the Air Force for 22 years. My parents were doing 'ok' on the AF Retirement pay and retirement pay from his civilian post-AF work UNTIL OBAMA CUT HIS RETIREMENT to so little that both my parents - at age 76 - are forced to seek jobs! (luckily my Mom got a job at Wal-Mart for a short time) Obama has been methodically breaking down the American life and it sickens me what has become of this country!

  2. I'm sorry, but how is this collection of untruths based on anything about retirement pay? And doesn't the CONGRESS set military pay scales? Please.
